First Aid - First Response - Warrant Review

All leaders must hold a ‘First Aid’ certificate. The Scout Association offers First Response as a minimum standard course. If you hold one of the following certificates you do not need to take a First Response course:

NHS Ambulance Technician
NHS Ambulance Paramedic
British Red Cross Adult Standard First Aid Certificate
St Andrew’s Ambulance Association Standard First Aid Certificate
St John Ambulance Lifesaver Plus Certificate
St John Ambulance Mountain First Aid Certificate
St John Ambulance Life Saver certificate of Competence
St John Ambulance Life Saver Plus certificate of Competence
Health & Safety Executive First Aid at Work Certificate gained at place of work
British Association of Ski Patrollers First Aid Certificate
Offshore Rig Medic Qualification
Robert Gordon Institute First Aid Qualification
First aid at Work Qualification of an Ambulance Service
PADI Medic First Aid or First Aid Instructor Qualification
RYA First Aid Certificate
BCU Aquatic First Aid
Health & Safety Executive Appointed Persons

The following professions are also exempt from undertaking basic First Aid training.
Police Officers who have attended their annual First Aid provision course
Members of HM Armed Forces who have completed their annual refresher training.
Nurses on the UKCC Register **
Registered Medical Practitioners **

**These latter two should have maintained their resuscitation training at their place of work and are encouraged to complete a formal First Aid course.
